受傷的赤尾鮐
An Injured Bamboo Viper
夜裡，一如往常的開車在山林公路之間。忽然，發現一條赤尾鮐盤據在柏油路上。在以往遇上蛇類，只要車子停下來，牠們就會警覺性的擺盪著優美S 型弧度的美姿離開，這次，這條赤尾鮐卻是按兵不動，且早早做好攻擊的姿態等著我靠近。面對牠，牠兇猛的發揮了數次攻擊，然而，牠攻擊時嘴部的不協調樣卻讓我察覺異常，也發現了身體的血跡。原來，牠頭部的另一側已遭汽車輾過受了重傷。這是牠垂死前的掙扎，我將牠移往路旁，雖然知道牠已活不久了⋯⋯。
In the night, I was driving on the roads in the mountain as usual when I suddenly spotted a bamboo viper (Trimeresurus stejnegeri) coiling in the middle of the paved road. Most snakes would get alarmed and leave in a beautiful S-shape when a vehicle stops in front of them. But this bamboo viper didn't move away, but got ready to thrust while waiting for me to approach it. It tried several charges at me, but I found something wrong with his mouth and the blood on its body. It seemed that it had been run over by some vehicle on one side of its head. It was badly wounded, and was struggling to fight its coming death. I moved it to the roadside even though I knew it wouldn't live for long.
